I’ve just come up long enough for air from my quilting room to remember that I have not posted today’s quilt! Here you go… Did you take a guess as to who the mystery autograph (initials JB) is from? If not, pause and consider a moment, then check to see if you are right.
“Jinny’s Star”, 2001 25” x 25” This was a round-robin quilt with 3 friends from the Cotton Country Quilters. I made the center star (pattern downloaded from Jinny Beyer’s website) using Jinny’s “soft-edge piecing” technique. I love the effect!
My friends added the next 3 rounds. It still needed something, so I added the pink Celtic Applique. (Been there, done that, probably won’t do it again!)
This was quilted on the domestic sewing machine using clear monopoly thread.
OH LOOK! Right there on the back… Very faintly you can see the signature of……
JINNY BEYER! In 2004 I had a chance to go to Tupelo, MS and see Jinny, Alex Anderson, and Ricky Tims. I took my quilt and asked Jinny to sign it. She did, despite the fact that she had a terrible burn on her hand. Thanks, Jinny!
TOMORROW’S TEASER: A commemorative quilt marking a major national event occurring in 2001. I bet you can guess!
See you tomorrow!
