“Dick and Jane Churn Dash” – 2008
When I saw the Dick and Jane fabric I HAD to have some! Since I taught kindergarten and first grade (in a previous career) I just had to make something. I told others I was making it for Katie Bug, but really it was for me… I just SHARE it with her!
I redrafted the churndash pattern to make the center square larger so I could fussy cut the fabric to best show the pictures.
The quilting is a Baptist Fan pattern. I used the Quilt E-Z boards to do this… I love them! This quilt was lots of fun, and it used by Katie Bug whenever she comes to visit at the farm.
Have a blessed Christmas! And I hope you enjoy this quilter’s version of “The Night Before Christmas”. It was sent to me by my niece, and is SOOOOO true at my house!
Twas the night before Christmas,
I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa
brought just for me..
Could it be fat quarters
or a pattern or lace?
Or a quilt kit, I said,
with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him,
"Hi Santa," I said
"You know....good little girls
should be in their beds ".
"I know I should Santa,
and now I've got caught.
But I was just so excited
to see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look
in this room where you work."
He shook his head quickly,
And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.
"You've got enough stuff, I'll see you next year!"

Hi, I love the Dick and Jane fabric too. I made a quilt with it for our retiring principal. The Baptist Fans look great on the quilt.
